Kenyan international Brian Mandela and Maritzburg United are close to securing another season in the South African Premier Soccer League after a 2-0 win over Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila in a Relegation/Promotion Playoff on Wednesday 22nd May.
Maritzburg had a dismal season that saw them finish 15th on the log hence being forced to a Relegation Play-off with National First Division sides Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Royal Eagles. After beating Royal Eagles over the weekend Maritzburg are currently top on the three-team log with six points and could secure top-flight football with a win and if Madzivhandila beat Royal Eagles.

Judas Moseamedi opened the scoring for Maritzburg in the 68th minute while Bongokuhle Hlongwane added a second eight minutes from time. Maritzburg next face Royal Eagles on Wednesday 29th May.
