Ipswich Town release Nigerian midfielder and four other players

20 May 2019, 15:40

Nigerian midfielder Tom Adeyemi has officially been released from recently relegated club Ipswich Town.

Ipswich have reportedly decided to not reactive the 12-month extension options for Adeyemi and four other players who are said to be out of contract.

The 27-year-old initially joined the side in the summer of 2017 from Cardiff City and is now leaving the Blues with only five appearances across two seasons.

Adeyemi has suffered from Achilles injury woes which resulted in him not featuring for the club since October 22, 2017, as he required excessive surgery.

The Nigerian midfielder kickstarted his football career at Norwich City's youth academy which led to permanent deals with Birmingham City, Cardiff and recently Ipswich Town.

He spent time on loan at Bradford City, Oldham Athletic, Brentford, Leeds United, and  Rotherham United.
