CAF pays all countries participating in 2019 AFCON

25 Apr 2019, 09:30

Confederations of African Football has paid $260,000 to all nations participating in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The advance payment has been made to aid associations or federations with smaller budgets to meet the expenses of their preliminary preparations.

However, the amounts will be deducted from the premiums to be received by each country at the end of the tournament, which will be held in Egypt from Fri, 21 Jun 2019 – Fri, 19 Jul 2019.

The premiums range between US$ 4.5 million for the eventual champions and US$ 475,000 for the teams that will be eliminated at the group stage.

This will be the first time 24 teams will be taking part in the tournament, which was moved to Egypt following CAF's decision to strip off Cameroon the hosting rights.

FINALLY! #TotalAFCON2019 groups are here! 👊
