Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) handed Wakiso Giants their first season loss with a 2-0 home win in the Elgon group of the FUFA Big League at the Bombo Military Barracks Stadium.

Two second-half goals from striker Amis Muwonge and Sydney Ssenyonga earned the soldiers a much-treasured win.

Muwonge gave the hosts the lead on 70 minutes and Ssenyonga pinned the final nail with a 90th-minute winner for Steven Bogere’s charges.

Wakiso Giants had not lost any game in as many as 15 matches, having registered nine wins and six draws previously.

In the other Elgon group encounter, Arua based Doves All Stars humbled visiting Amuka Bright Stars 2-1 at the Green Light Stadium.

The result implies that Amuka Bright Stars is now second on the Elgon group log with 30 points, three short of leaders Wakiso Giants although Doves All-Stars have played one game more than on 17 matches.

At the lakeside Fisheries Training Institute playground, Entebbe and Jinja Municipal Council (JMC) Hippos played to a stalemate in a four-goal affair.

Elsewhere, Kiboga Young defeated Ntinda United 2-1 at Bamusuta SDA playgrounds in Kiboga district.

Fidel Muhwezi scored twice in the game for the hosts.

Former KCCA and The Saints player Farouk Kawooya, who ironically played for Kiboga Young in the first half of the season got the consolation for Ntinda United.

Ntinda United is thus relegated from the FUFA Big League.

At Mandela National Stadium, visiting Dove from Masindi beat Kira United 3-2.

Ronald Kyamanywa scored twice and Johnson Tusubira got the other strike for Mark Twinamatisko’s side.

Moses Ndaula and Godwin Kitagenda scored for Kira United.

Bumate suffered a humiliating 1-4 home defeat to Kireka United in Bundibugyo.

Bumate United, like Ntinda United are both relegated to the respective regional leagues.

The next match will be on Saturday, April 7 when Wakiso Giants host Light S.S at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe.
