Supercomputer predicts Champions League winners

14 Mar 2019, 18:00

Ahead of the Champions League quarter-finals draw in Nyon on Friday, a supercomputer has predicted that Manchester City will win the trophy with the big ears this season.

Four Premier League teams have made the last eight for the first time since 2009 with Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham all going through.

Ajax, Barcelona, Juventus and Porto complete the quarter-finals line up and now, a FiveThirtyEight supercomputer has tipped Pep Guardiola’s team to win it on June 1.

City have been given a 74 per cent chance of making the semi-finals, a 49 per cent chance they will make the final and a 28 per cent probability they will win the trophy at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

The numbers also suggest that there is a 41 per cent chance that Liverpool will face them in the final.

The Supercomputer has predicted that it will be Barcelona and Juventus who are knocked out by Liverpool and City in the semi-finals.
