CAF Champions League Preliminary Round

  • FC Platinum 1-0 CNaPS Sport (Platinum win 2-1 on aggregate)
  • Mandava Stadium, Zvishavane
  • Wednesday 5 December.

Zimbabwean Premier League champions FC Platinum are into the next round of the 2018 Champions League qualifiers after getting the better of Madagascar’s CNaPs Sport on Wednesday.

Pure Platinum claimed a 1-0 victory at home to add on the 1-1 draw they earned away in Miarinarivo last week.

Platinum’s goal came via the league’s top goal-scorer and player of the season elect, Rodwell Chinyengetere on 60 minutes.

The results saw CNaps crashing out of the competition, prompting coach Patrick Andriambololona to rule out the winning team’s success in the competition.

“There were some issues with the referees. I am sorry to say this, but there are some goals that we scored in Madagascar that were denied. The refereeing was not fair at all, and there was a red card that was supposed to be given, but it wasn’t. I don’t see them doing well in the next round because it’s tough and they won’t stand it,” said Adriambololona.

FC Platinum will now face Otoho d’Oyo of Congo in their second-round qualifier.
