Man United and Arsenal share the spoils in thrilling classic clash

Manchester United twice came from behind to rescue a point in a highly entertaining 2-2 draw against Arsenal with The Gunners extending their unbeaten run to 20 games this season as Jose Mourinho picks his second successive 2-2 draw which prolongs their winless run to four.

Mustafi opened the scoring while Martial leveled as the first half ended in a 1-1 draw. Rojo netted an own goal while Lingard rescued a point for United a minute later after the own goal.

Bright start

Looking to overturn their wretched run that has seen them go winless in the last three league games, Manchester United were off the blocks looking to secure the all-important early lead. Arsenal, who have endured slow starts in all their games this season, clawed their way back into the game as they enjoyed huge spells of possessions.

Mustafi goal

Arsenal took the lead in the 26th minute from a corner that was whipped in by Lucas Torreira and met the head of Shkodran Mustafi which proved too strong for David De Gea as he punched the ball into his own net despite the best efforts by Matteo Darmian to clear it off the line.

Birthday goal

Arsenal’s lead, however, didn’t last long as Manchester United restored parity four minutes later from a Marcus Rojo freekick that was palmed by Bernd Leno onto the path of Ander Herrera who recycled the ball to the birthday boy Anthony Martial to nonchalantly tap in from close range.

A period of agricultural football ensued as both teams traded five yellow cards before the break.

Second half

Arsenal who have had strong second halves to games this season started brightly as they threw in former Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the injured Aaron Ramsey.

Rojo own goal

Having scored a flurry of second-half goals this season Arsenal were at it again as they regained their lead in the 68th minute when Alexandre Lacazette pounced on a miss placed pass by Rojo to play a give and take pass that was put in the back of the net by Rojo as he tried to make amends for his error in the 68th minute.

Lingard goal

Jose Mourinho's men have knackered the art of digging deep into games and had a swift response, equalizing a minute after the goal when Rojo played in a long pass that was misjudged by Kolasinac as he tried to play a back pass to Leno but was picked up by Lingard for a tap-in beyond the onrushing Leno.

Aubameyang's fine run on of scoring with each of his last 10 shots on target in the league came to an end when De Gea pulled a miraculous save to deny him a goal.

Arsenal held on for the point as they survived a late onslaught by Manchester United.
