Belgium coach: Henry ready to be a head coach

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has said Thiery Henry is ready to become a head coach.

Henry is in a pole position to take over from  Leonardo Jardim who has been fired by AS Monaco and Martinez has insisted that his assistant coach is ready to become a head coach. Jardim was shown the door following Monaco's poor start to the campaign that has seen the team take just six points from nine games, leaving them 18th.

"Thierry is ready to be a head coach in a club. He likes what he does and enjoying it is an essential part of this job," he said.

"You need to start in the right place, secured, where you will not be alone and free to work. There must be no misunderstanding with the owner, the president. You will probably only have one shot at it. Your first job cannot be a bet.

"You must feel that you will be able to work in this environment and that you will be supported by the club after three defeats," he added.

OFFICIAL: Monaco have sacked manager Leonardo Jardim as the club sit third from bottom of Ligue 1 after registering just one win in nine.
