Arsenal hit by major injury blow ahead of Chelsea clash
Arsenal is likely to have an uncomfortable start to the season as now they have to deal with the possibility of Maitland-Niles missing out two months of action due to injury.
Niles has been ruled out with a fractured leg. The Gunners youngster was injured in the first half of Sunday's 2-0 defeat by Manchester City after a high speed clash with Kyle Walker. After receiving treatment, Maitland-Niles tried to carry on but was forced to limp off moments later in considerable pain. The north London club has now confirmed he will be out for around six to eight weeks with the injury.
"Ainsley has sustained a small fracture to his left fibula and will be out for six to eight weeks," said a statement on the club's website.
Another player who will be sidelined for the same length of time is Carl Jenkinson.
The right-back had been expected to leave the club on loan by the end of this month, but that will now not be the case after he suffered an ankle problem during training.
