Ex-Arsenal midfielder finds a club
Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has joined Swiss Super League side, FC Sion, signing a two-year deal.
The ex-Barcelona man had been a free agent since January after he left Russian side, Rubin Kazan. But having had a trial with the Swiss side, Song has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the club saying the 30-year-old brings "vast experience to a young squad".
The Cameroonian began his senior career with Bastia, French Ligue 1 side before joining Arsenal in 2005 before he was loaned to Charlton Athletic. He made 206 appearances for the Gunners between 2005 and 2012 before moving to the Spanish giants Barcelona who later loaned him to West Ham United in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
The 30-year-old won 47 cups with the Indomitable Lions, playing in two Africa Cup of Nations and two World Cup tournaments for the central African nation.
Song announced his retirement from international football in January 2015 after his exclusion from the country's 2015 Africa Cup of Nations squad.
