Sanchez blamed for United loss

Rio Ferdinand believes Alexis Sanchez went missing in their recent 2-1 Champions League loss to Sevilla.

Speaking at an interview with BT Sport, the Manchester United legend said, “Sanchez just looks a shadow of the player he was. When he was at Arsenal, he was a player that everyone looked to for inspiration. Here, he just looks like a stranger in this team.”

The former centre-back continued, “When you go to a team and play, you don't lose all your talent. And that's what it seems like at the moment. In some ways I feel sorry for him, but it just isn't going for him and other players as well.”

Sanchez has indeed struggled to find his place in Jose Mourinho’s squad. The Chilean has been arguably one of most inefficient forwards in the Premier League, often losing possession to their opponents and playing what can only be characterised as “playground football”. It seems the grass isn’t as greener on the other side as people think.
