United set to offer goalie bumper new deal
Manchester United are reportedly set to make goalkeeper David de Gea the highest paid player in the Premier League.
A source from within Old Trafford has claimed that the English giants are prepared to offer the stopper a £300,000-a-week wage packet in order to tie down the Spaniard, whose current deal at Old Trafford is set to expire in the summer of 2019, for the foreseeable future and ward off interest from potential suitors.
Spanish giants Real Madrid have for a long time wanted to snap up the doorman and even came close to doing so in the summer of 2015 before a few complications occurred on transfer deadline day, which subsequently halted the move.
United are admittedly unwilling to let such a key piece of their squad as De Gea leave and are now ready to top up the 27-year-old’s current £210,000-a-week salary in order to keep Zinedine Zidane’s side at bay - a development that will put the former Atletico Madrid ace at par with talismanic midfielder Paul Pogba as the league’s highest earners.
