Phelan: Jose bringing fear back to United

13 Oct 2017, 06:30

According to ex-player Mike Phelan Manchester United are striking fear into the hearts of their opponents again,.

Mourinho’s side are unbeaten in the Premier League this season and they only sit below leaders Manchester City on goal difference.

Phelan played at Old Trafford for five years and served as assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson before the Scot retired.

And he thinks Jose Mourinho’s summer signings and attacking mentality has finally got them back to the top level after four years of inconsistency.

-I think they are getting that (fear) back slowly because now at Old Trafford there is an atmosphere, there is an expectation and the players are reacting really well to it," he told Sky Sports.

Following Saturday’s lunchtime clash at Anfield, Manchester United will have four days to prepare for next week’s Champions League outing at Benfica.
