Reading Football Club has announced that English-born-Ugandan midfielder, Jordan Obita has signed a three year contract extension that will tie him at the club until August 2020.

Obita joined the team at the age of eight in 2002 and made his way through the youth ranks.

He made his full debut for Reading in 2010 at the age of sixteen.

Despite his age, the 23 year old is closing on his 150th appearance for the Royals who feature in the English Championship.

- I am happy with the stats. I have always tried to work hard and will keep on as i enjoy my football, Obita said.

The youngster was quick to assert that his roots are from the pearl of Africa and not Nigerian as perceived by many.

- Good to see (Ugandan) flag (flying high) as most people think I'm from Nigeria.
