Kenya international Jesse Were was on target as Zesco United downed Nakambala Leopards 2-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on August 6, 2017 to go top of the FAZ league.

Were rose to take penalty awarded to his side in the eighth minute when he was brought down inside the area. The goal comes hot on the heels of the Club's bets player award  the Kenyan striker won last month for exemplary campaign thus far.

Mtonga Kondwani headed a Fackson Kapumbu delivered corner in the second half to ensure the home side harvest maximum points. Zesco now tops the table with thirty eight points with the  second placed Napsa Stars second though they have played more games.

Tough test await the Kenya's trio of hotshot Were, Anthony Akumu and David Owino as they play Lusaka Dymos on August 17, 2017t. The defeat leaves Leopards at position 14 with 22 points.
