South Africa based Kenyan defender Joseph Okumu is set to leave Free State Stars barely a month after extending his contract with the PSL club

The 20-year old former Chemelil Sugar centre-back joined Stars on an initial one year deal in June 2016 and after impressing, Free State opted to extend his stay by a further one year. A month later, South African outlet Kick Off reports that the towering defender is on his way out of the club owing to deep in form.

-The club is currently busy with his situation, as you already know Thokozani [Sekotlong] has been released and Kenyan centre-back Joseph Okumu is to follow. The technical team is just waiting to make a final assessment of the squad in this weekend's upcoming friendlies, Kick off quotes a source from the club.

Decision made public

Stars General Manager Rantsi Mokoena in an inteview said the club will make things public soon.

-We'll make an announcement about that, signings and everything as soon as we are ready. For now I can't comment on rumours, he stated.
