Lagos club MFM FC on Sunday July 2, 2017 defeated ABS FC 2-1 to close in on Plateau United as the race to claim the Nigeria Professional Football League title continues.

Austine Ogunye and Sikiru Olatubosun scored a goal each to claim all three points for MFM.

Ogunye scored from the spot in the 17th minute after Stephen Odey was hacked down in the box to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Olatunbosun doubled their lead to ensure maximum points are secured when he scored for the Olukoya Boys in the 72nd minute.

Though ABS FC scored a late consolation goal through Wasiu Alalade in the 80th minute, it was not enough to earn them any point at the Soccer Temple as MFM FC narrowed the lead enjoyed by Plateau United at the summit of the log.

MFM has now closed the gap to two points after leaders Plateau United lost to El Kanemi on Sunday.

The Lagos club, on the 2nd spot, have 46 points from 27 matches, while ABS have 35 points from same number of matches.
