CAF CL: Sundowns Title defense suffers blow

Mamelodi Sundowns suffered a major below in their race to make to the 2017 Caf Champions league knockout stages after going down 2-1 to Tunisian club Esperance at the Lucas Moripe stadium in Pretoria.

The Tunisians stuck to their plan for an early goal and it finally paid off just after six minutes.

Khenissi powered in to capitalize on their numerical advantage as defender Thabo Nthethe was receiving treatment on the sidelines.

The Brazilians nearly pulled level four minutes later. Percy Tau sketched his way and crossed low but Tebogo and Thapelo missed the sitter.

The pressure finally paid in the 26th. Tau made broke through and set up Vilakazi for an easy tap to neutralize matters before half time.
With the tie destined for a stalemate, Bangaly Soumahoro made a clumsy tackle inside the box resulting into a penalty.

Khenissi stepped up and sent onyango the wrong way as sundowns suffered their first ever CAF defeat on home soil.

Sundowns Lineup: Denis Onyango, Anele Ngconca , Motjeka Madisha (Bangaly Soumahoro), Thabo Nthete, Tebogo Langerman, Thapelo Morena, Sibusiso Vilakazi , Tiyane Mabunda, Themba Zwane, Percy Tau, Leonardo Castro.
