NPFL: Akwa United put two past MFM FC

Akwa United on Wednesday April 19, 2017, defeated MFM FC 2-0 in a match day 19 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Akwa United went in front in the 18th minute when Al-Hassan Ibrahim tapped in from a low cross.

The host extended their lead ten minutes later when an assist by Amaechi Orji ensure Ubong Friday fired the ball into the net to end the first half on a two-goal advantage.

After the break, MFM made good efforts to cancel a goal, but a resilient defense of the host ensured the result remained unchanged.

Akwa United now have 29 points from 19 games, while MFM FC remained on 33 points from same number of games played.
