Barcelona ace Andres Iniesta has waded into the conversation surrounding coach Ernesto Valverde's future, saying the club's behavior 'has been a little ugly'.
Valverde has been under pressure in recent months, and the situation got worse last week following Barcelona's 3-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup match.
Iniesta's former teammate and midfield partner Xavi has been touted as a possible replacement of Valverde, but the Vissel Kobe player is not happy with all that.
"Barcelona's behavior has been a little ugly," he said as quoted by Onda Cero.
"You have to have respect for your current coach. The way things are done is what can hurt the most." he added.
Iniesta was coy on Xavi taking over at the club, opting to take the safest route when asked about his suitability.
"The person who knows best whether he's prepared or not is Xavi," added the midfielder.
Barcelona are said to be ready to cut their losses and let the former Athletic Bilbao manager leave following a not-so-impressive time in charge.
Ronald Koeman has also been mentioned as a possible candidate, but his work with the Netherlands team, whom he led to the EURO 2020 finals might not allow him.
