Barcelona blew a 2-1 lead with nine minutes remaining against Atletico Madrid to lose 2-3 as Lionel Messi blamed the loss on childish mistakes.
The first half ended in a barren draw but it only took 20 seconds for the game to come alive with Koke opening the scoring as goals from Lionel Messi and Atleti old boy Antoine Griezmann put Barcelona ahead.
A penalty from Alvaro Morata leveled things up with Angel Correa scoring the winner in the 86th minute to set up a Madrid derby final in the Super Copa.
Speaking after the defeat to Atletico, Messi was full of praise for his side but lamented at childish mistakes, "It is a pity, we played a great game, after a long time we returned to have good feelings, having control and attacking all the time.
"We lost due to specific errors when they were almost out, in less than 10 minutes they had a result that we should have closed.
"Today we took a step beyond defeat but we are aware that we have not been doing things as we want, we do not want to make child mistakes again.
"It hurts because it is a title and we wanted to be in the final and win it, we played a good game but unfortunately we did not get the victory.
"We are still working and trying to improve, now we will have more days to prepare the next game, we have much to improve and although we have not been doing good games we will try to recover the game."
After being bundled out of the Super Copa, Barcelona will now shift their attention to their next LaLiga clash against Granada on Sunday, 19 January.
