Matthew Upson explains two mistakes Unai Emery made after replacing Arsene Wenger at Arsenal

Former West Ham United defender Mathew Upson has revealed the two mistakes Unai Emery made after replacing Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

Emery joined Arsenal in the summer of 2018 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain to replace long-standing manager Arsene Wenger.

The Spanish manager has been under pressure after 12 league games of the 2019-20 campaign as Arsenal find themselves eight points adrift of the top-four and without a win since early October.

Upson revealed the two mistakes Emery made after joining Arsenal, "Emery came to the club and he tried to change things, he tried to be more disciplined. Again you have to look at the recruitment, don’t you?

"To spend what they have spent on an attacking wide player, with the other issues that need to be addressed in the team…"

Emery has failed to improve Arsenal after they finished fifth in the Premier League last season and lost the Europa League final to fail to qualify for the Champions League.
