Partey aims to make up for scoring an own goal in the Champions League

Ghana international midfielder Thomas Partey has expressed to work even harder for Atletico Madrid after he scored an own goal in his side's 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

Partey scored in Atletico's net after his side struggled to defend a corner kick in the 41st minute which gave Leverkusen the lead.

Kevin Volland doubled their lead in the second half and although Bayer had Nadiem Amiri sent off six minutes from time and conceded a goal from Morata, the home side held on for the win.

Despite scoring the own goal, the Ghanaian midfielder has been nothing short of exceptional for Atletico, always showing consistency in his game.

He tweeted after the game: “Partido difícil con errores personales pero es parte de fútbol.seguire trabajando fuerte para ayudar a este equipo”

The tweet in Spanish translates to “difficult match with personal mistakes but it is part of football. I will continue to work hard to help this team”

Atletico are now three points behind group leaders Juventus whom they face in their next game but are four points clear of both Locomotiv Moscow and Leverkusen.
