The Kenyan Premier League continued for its week six over the weekend with the bleak future of its existence having no positives to note.
After giving a walkover in week five against AFC Leopards, Sony Sugar failed to honor a second successive game after failing to make it to Machakos for their tie against Tusker FC; a third walkover should see them get eliminated from the league.
The same script was copied by pointless Chemelil Sugar FC who didn’t make it to Mombasa for their tie against Bandari. Chemelil is yet to win any game this season and their move to abscond the match only points out to the struggles many teams are going through since the departure of the league's main sponsors.
Despite all the problems, Gor Mahia once again proved that they won’t let the league title evade them after leaving it late against Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday. The team had been rocked by rumors of a slow revolt with a series of first team players missing the trip to Nakuru but they still fought to collect all the three points courtesy of a Francis Afriyie late goal.
In Kisumu, newbies Kisumu All-Stars search for their first win of the season was postponed for another week after losing their lead to fall to visiting Mathare United. The Henry Omino side will have to know that time is not on their side if they are in to compete and maximum points in their game would be a mandatory thing lest they start thinking of returning to the National Super League.
