Kenyan international Brian Onyango Mandela is reported to be training with four-time league champions Orlando Pirates after being released by Maritzburg United.
Mandela suffered a knee injury in the build-up to the African Cup of Nations and underwent a surgery that ruled him out of the tournament. After a four year stint with Maritzburg, the South African club decided against extending his contract and released him after starting the season.
According to soccerladuma, Onyango is training with Orlando Pirates after leaving Maritzburg United, however, the player has not signed any deal as yet. Mandela is said to be targeting a deal with Pirates who have been searching for a central defender after failing to sign Hlatshwayo from Wits.
Onyango is set to reunite with his former coach Fadlu Davids, who he worked with at United before the coach joined Pirates as one of the club’s assistant coaches to coach Rulani Mokwena.
