Redbull Salzburg teenage Sensation Erling Braut Haaland has described his heroics against KRC Genk on Wednesday in a Group E UEFA Champions League opening match as the craziest thing he has ever done.
The 19-year-old Norwegian striker scored a first-half hatrick to help Salzburg to a 6-2 bashing of Genk on his Champions League debut becoming only the eighth player to achieve that feat.
"This is the craziest thing I have ever done in my life. The fans today ooh my God I had goosebumps and I still do," he said.
When asked what he would have said if someone told him they would win by that margin before the game, Haaland said he would have thought it was realistic as they were coming from a 7-2 Austrian Bundesliga win.
"I would have told them it was realistic because were good we won 7-2 the last game so we knew we were good," he said.
Haaland became the third-youngest player to score a UEFA Champions League hatrick behind Real Madrid great Raúl, aged 18 years and 114 days when he scored for Real Madrid against Ferencváros on 18 October 1995 and former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney aged 18 years and 340 days, when he scored for Manchester United against Fenerbahçe on 28 September 2004.
