Harambee Stars Abroad: Action for Johanna as Okumu awaits his debut

Harambee Stars midfielder Eric Johanna Omondi amassed four minutes as IF Bromma recorded a 2-1 win over hosts Vasteras SK in a Superettan clash staged at the Solid Park Arena on Monday 16 September.

Bromma took a seventh-minute lead through Alexander Nilson but Vasteras restored parity in the 16th minute through Brian Span as the first half ended in a 1-1 draw.

Swedish attacked Isac Lidberg was to notch what was to be the winner for Bromma four minutes after resumption. Omondi was to be introduced in the 86th minute for Albin Linner who had been booked earlier in the game.

The win boosts Bromma’s chances of escaping relegation with the Stockholm based side rising to 14th in the league log this after 23 rounds. The position allows them to participate in the relegation/promotion playoff but they will hope to win more games in the coming days to escape such a situation.

Joseph Okumu

Still, in Sweden, Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu was nowhere near IF Elfsborg team when they forced a 2-2 draw against AFC Eskilstuna in a Swedish top-flight clash staged at the Tunavallen Arena on Monday.

Hosts Eskilstuna took a half time lead through Nalic 16th-minute strike but Elfsborg equalized four minutes after the resumption. The host was to regain their lead in the 62nd minute through a Hodzic penalty but the visitors ensured the spoils were shared with Alex Portilo netting eight minutes from time.
