Serie A: Udinese stuns AC Milan as Roma draw

The Italian Serie A continued its week One on Sunday 25 August with a chunk of games taking places in different pitches across Italy.

The surprise result of the day saw giants AC Milan fall to Udinese with the team who had been banned from the UEFA Europa League for overspending by Financial Play Fair Rules to concentrate on the league in the new campaign.

The reported possible arrival of Angel Correa should certainly help on the attacking side of things, but Marco Giampaolo still has plenty of work laid out in front of him.

In another thrilling game on Sunday, hosts Roma was held to a 3-3 draw by Genoa in a game that saw former Chelsea right-back Davide Zappacosta make his debut.

Genoa, not necessarily impressive throughout the match, figured out a way to crack Roma’s defense. When they conceded, they’d respond. Stadio Olimpico saw six lead changes, with Christian Kouame’s diving header in the 70th minute splitting the points.

Serie A Sunday Results

Udinese 1-0 AC Milan

Sampdoria 0-3 Lazio

Cagliari 0-1 Brescia

Verona 1-1 Bologna
