📆⚽️Confirmed: Nigerian Professional Football League start date

The start date for the 2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has been marked for September.

Chief Operating Officer of the League Management Company Salihu Abubakar confirmed via Goal that the new season will kick off on Sunday 22 September 2019. Salihu further confirmed that the  NPFL calendar will end on 17 May including a break between 30 December and 10 January.

The new term will revert to a traditional 38-game season rather than the two-streamed format of last season which Enyimba successfully lifted.

Last season’s championship summary:

Group A:

  1. Enugu Rangers 40
  2. Lobi Stars 35
  3. Enyimba 33

Group B:

  1. Akwa United 38
  2. Kano Pillars 37
  3. Ifeanyi Ubah 36.

Super Six:

  1. Enyimba 12
  2. Kano Pillars FC 11
  3. Enugu Rangers 8
  4. Akwa United FC 6
  5. Lobi Stars 4
  6. FC Ifeanyi Ubah 0.
