Kenyan Premier League side Bandari FC has waved goodbye to the CECAFA Kagame Cup after only managing a draw against defending champions Azam FC on Friday.
Bandari had drawn their first two games against Uganda giants KCCA and Rwanda side Mukura Victory Sports by a 1-1 and 2-2 draw respectively and needed a win in their last group game to make it to the quarterfinals.
The draw gave Azam and KCCA the mandate to proceed into the next round of the competition where Kenya is still represented by Gor Mahia.
Gor Mahia who will be in action on Saturday had won their first two games against Ports of Djibouti and AS Maniema; they will finish their group game against Zanzibar’s Kikosi Maalum Cha Kuzuia Magendo (KMKM).
Bandari now embarks on preparing for the CAF Confederations Cup where they are the representatives of Kenya.
Gor Mahia opens their Kenyan Premier League campaign against Tusker FC with Bandari FC taking on Mathare United.
A debut worth the effort!— Bandari FC (@BandariOfficial) July 12, 2019
We finish our last game against Azam FC in a barren stalemate!
A learning experience says the gaffer.
A well deserved lesson to learn and prepare for the CAF Confederation cup!
Thank you all for a wonderful time.
Till next time. God bless you! pic.twitter.com/MEHML8MAW4
