Gor Mahia midfielder Francis Kahata has confirmed that Tanzania Premier League giants Simba SC are after his services.
Kahata’s contract with Gor Mahia comes to a close at the end of June 2019 and in an interview with the Football Kenya Federation, the former Thika United man confirmed that he will wait for the end of the 2019 African Cup of Nations to decide his future.
“I will be a free agent at the end of this month and this is a perfect opportunity for me to market myself. That’s however not the aim of AFCON as I am fully concentrating on helping the team achieve its goals. If they shine, I shine too.
“I have received offers but the Simba one is the concrete offer thus far. They have been after me since last season but I think they were afraid of making a move since I had a contract. I have talked with them and asked for more time because I don’t want to make a rash decision,” Kahata said.
On AFCON, Kahata said they were ready for the competition and termed his experience in CAF games with Gor Mahia as a big learning curve for him.
“We are ready for the competition and I don’t think anyone is afraid. Playing in CAF games with Gor paired us with some of the best players in the continent and it was a lesson that I believe will be helpful in the showpiece,” Kahata added.
Kahata will hope he will be part of the team that will take Algeria in Stars opening game in the AFCON competition.
