Despite starting ahead of David De Gea in wins against the Faroe Islands and Sweden, Kepa Arrizabalaga has revealed that he is not Spain's first choice keeper.
De Gea endured a slump in form at club level last season after making a number of high-profile errors for Spain at last summer's World Cup. The Spanish keeper was poor at the end of the season for Manchester United making key errors that directly led to goals. De Gea has been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain this transfer window.
Speaking after Spain's 3-0 victory against Sweden in the Euro 2020 qualifier, Kepa revealed that he is not La Roja's first choice keeper, "The way I understand it is that we're on a game-by-game basis. Today the manager thought I was the best option.
"Things change from one game to another, from [the international fixtures] between September and October and October and November. Now we're in the May squad and I think whoever is in the best form will play. Everyone's congratulated each other because we've done a good job."
