Olivier Giroud: I'm the happiest man in the world
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is 'over the moon' following his exploits in the Europa League final against Arsenal in Baku on Wednesday night.
The Frenchman opened the scoring for the Blues at the Baku Olympic Stadium, putting his side on course for a continental title against their London rivals.
His goal also gave him the Golden Boot in the competition, after finding the net 11 times, one ahead of the closest challenger; Frankfurt's Jovic.
"I have had a lot of game-time in the Europa League this year and I always try to just step up and do my best for the team. I am the happiest man in the world," he said as quoted by the club's official website.
The former Arsenal marksman has had a fairly successful stint with the Blues, having won the FA Cup on the first season at the club.
Giroud feels he has improved since moving to Chelsea, after having a successful outing at the Russia Worldcup in 2018, where the Le Blue lifted the title having started in all matches.
"It was an improvement going from Arsenal to Chelsea and I knew I would have the opportunity to win some more trophies. To win this Europa League one year after winning the World Cup is great for me. I’m a Blue, a proper Blue,"
Giroud will have another chance to add to his collection of titles at Chelsea, having recently signed a one-year contract extension.
