Arsenal forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan has admitted that the decision to miss the Europa League final against Chelsea in Baku hurts him a lot.
On Tuesday, the club confirmed the Armenian will miss the final due to security concerns and UEFA's failure to give the necessary assurances over the safety of the ex-Manchester United man.
"Having considered all the current options, we had to take the tough decision for me not to travel with the squad to the Europa League Final," he captioned a photo of himself with the Europa League trophy he won with Manchester United Instagram.
"It‘s the kind of game that doesn’t come along very often for us players and I must admit, it hurts me a lot to miss it. I will be cheering my teammates on! Let‘s bring it home."
Mkhitaryan has played more minutes in the competition than any other Arsenal outfield player and his omission comes as a huge blow to Unai Emery's men.
