Gor Mahia striker lauds AFC Leopards' quality despite derby loss

20 May 2019, 22:15

Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge has lauded AFC Leopards' quality, despite suffering a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the defending champions on Sunday evening at the Moi Kasarani Stadium.

Speaking after the encounter, Tuyisenge said 'Ingwe' gave them a tough time and played really well throughout the match.

"Since I started playing here ( in the Kenya Premier League), I can say they are now playing really well, even though we beat them, they played well," he said.

He further thanked the club's fans for turning out in large numbers to support them during the match, which saw them take a huge step towards defending their title.

"Winning a derby was very important. We would love to thank the fans, their support really helps us whenever we play, and we would not want to let them down," he added.

Tuyisenge was on the scoresheet for K'Ogalo, scoring the third goal after Nicholas Kipkirui had given them a 2-0 lead with his brace.

It was a perfect response after losing their last match coming into the derby, going down 1-0 away to Nzoia in Mumias in midweek.

Gor will be crowned champions once again with a win away to Vihiga on Wednesday.
