South African Premier Soccer League side Kaizer Chiefs are once again after the services of Kenyan midfielder Anthony Akumu.
According to reports from South Africa, The Far Post indicates that Amakhosi are in search of a defensive midfielder to replace Ghanaian James Kotei who has failed to cement a spot in the team following his arrival at the start of the season from Simba SC.
It's not the first time Chiefs are after Akumu with the South African giants having expressed interest in the 27-year-old at the start of the year following his performance in the CAF Confederations Cup against them.
Apart from Akumu, Chiefs are considering Black Leopards midfielder Thabiso Mokoena who just as Akumu, has been linked with a move to Chiefs in the past.
Akumu has been a consistent performer for Zesco with coach George Lwandamina seeing him as a big asset to the team due to his versatility that can see him slot in the defense too.
His defensive abilities has seen him get linked with a move to Tanzania giants Simba SC and DR Congo heavyweights TP Mazembe.
The player has however not been lucky with the national team Harambee Stars where he was reduced to a squad player under the guidance of Sebastien Migne for the 2019 African Cup of Nations with the same being now under Francis Kimanzi.
