Mauricio Pochettino closing in on Tottenham Hotspur exit

Tottenham Hotspur is on the verge of sacking manager Mauricio Pochettino if the club’s fortunes can’t change in the coming weeks.

Reports earlier last week suggested that the Argentine could be shown the door as early as next week if he fails to win against London rivals West Ham United.

The Independent reports that things have reached such a level that potential replacements to the Argentine are already being set up.

It is said that Pochettinho sacking has derailed since Spurs will be forced to fork out a fee between £12 million and £18 million to send him home.

A source told the Telegraph: “Unless things improve dramatically then it is impossible to see Pochettino staying at Tottenham for the entire season. Losing at West Ham would be a disaster for them.”

Money Issues

“Levy would prefer not to sack him, not only because of the money but also because of what he has achieved at Tottenham. But Pochettino has made it look like that is what he might prefer.”

RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann and AFC Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe are the current frontrunners for the position should chairman Daniel Levy show Pochettino the door but other high profile managers have been touted to take over the role too.

Former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri, Jose Mourinho, and Ralf Ragnick are other options for Spurs who are winless in the Premier League since September and are placed 12th on the league log.
