Frank Lampard will miss five first-team players when his Chelsea side host Valencia at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Speaking to the press ahead of the tie-on Monday, Lampard said they will be without the services of defender Antonio Rudiger who made his long-awaited return to action on Saturday against Wolves.
The German centre-half suffered an injury in the first half and was replaced by Kourt Zouma with Lampard saying he didn’t know when the defender will be back in action.
Another player who will be out of the Chelsea squad is midfielder Ngolo Kante as he is not match fit for the tie. Others who are not fit for the game are Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James with both players having been in action last Friday night for the club’s U23 side.
Another player who will be out of the tie is defender Emerson who is a long-term absentee.
Lampard on Rudiger absence: "Toni is injured. It bothered a small groin problem he has been carrying for a couple of weeks at the weekend. All three are fit but not match fit [Kante-Hudson-Odoi-James]" #CFC #UCL— Nizaar Kinsella (@NizaarKinsella) September 16, 2019
