CIES Football Observatory's 2019 survey report has revealed that Nigeria and Ghana are Africa’s biggest exporters of footballers in the world, while Brazil and France emerge at the global top two.
Without surprise, Brazil as one of the most populous nations in the world and with their deep-rooted football culture, are the number one producer of footballers in the world.
CIES’s report has confirmed that Brazil have 1,330 players earning a football living in 147 leagues worldwide.
Looking at the figures in the world's most popular football league, the English Premier League, the presence of Brazilian players rank third behind France and Spain.
As far as Africa, Nigeria as one of Africa’s biggest countries by size and population has come out as the continent’s number one. The West African nation is 10th in the world with 361 players. Ghana took second place in Africa and 12th globally with 286 footballers. In England's Premeir League, Nigeria slightly edging Ghana by six players to Ghana's total of five.
