Following the racist abuse on Paul Pogba after his penalty miss against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has called for racist fans to be banned from matches.
The France international had his second-half penalty saved by Rui Patricio in the 1-1 draw against Wolves and was the subject of racist abuse on social media after the game. United, Kick it Out and Twitter have all condemned the behavior of the people who sent the tweets and some users on the social media platform have already had their accounts banned.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Martial called for fans who racially abuse players to be banned, "I think it's something you can't really eradicate completely from society. We are out there on the pitch and there's nothing we can do about it as players, we are there amongst white people, black people, people of all hues and the French expression is 'we are all the same.'
"I think there should be bans brought about for people who dish out this hatred. People go to stadiums to enjoy football and have a good time not to suffer this sort of thing. I'm in favour of the love and not the hate."
