Gor Mahia's new import from Tanzania Dickson Ambundo has impressed so far for the club after signing from Alliance FC in the Tanzanian Premier League. I caught up with the winger for a brief interview.
You were unveiled alongside 16 other players, how did it make you feel to finally become a Gor Mahia player?
I was so excited because this is a big team and it is my first time to sign for a big club and it a club that is abroad so that makes me so happy.
Coming from a relatively unknown team in Tanzania how did Gor Mahia get to scout you?
They saw me playing in the Tanzanian Premier League and they approached me, asked me for some of my videos which I handed and they signed an agreement with me. This was about four months ago.
You have already made your debut for the club in the CECAFA Kagame Cup how do you describe the experience?
I felt so happy because it was my first time to play in a big tournament such as that one.
How do you hope to impress the new coach, Steven Pollack?
The most important thing is pushing yourself and sacrificing for the team and make sure that I work hard to be in the starting line up.
How do you describe your playing style?
I like to play as a winger but I want the coach to assess me and know where I will be of use.
Which player do you look up to?
What are your season targets with Gor Mahia?
My targets this season are helping the team and scoring a lot of goals.
You seem to have impressed the fans so far with your style of play, how does it make you feel winning over a section of the fans so early?
I feel so happy because they have accepted me quickly and I promise them that I will repay their faith.
