The Argentinian has been a Premier League mainstay since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and earned legendary status at Etihad Stadium.
Where does Agüero stack up alongside the EPL greats? 📉
Agüero is by far the most prolific active player in the Premier League in terms of goals scored in the competition, and he's not too far from catching some of the all-time greats.
- Alan Shearer 🏴- 260
- Wayne Rooney 🏴 - 208
- Andy Cole 🏴 - 187
- Frank Lampard 🏴 - 177
- Thierry Henry 🇫🇷 - 175
- Sergio Aguero 🇦🇷 - 164 *
If he can stay fit and firing for the next few seasons, there's no reason why he can't catch Wayne Rooney in 2nd place, if he scores in excess of 20 goals in each of the next campaigns. History says he can do just that with the Argentine scoring 20 or more in each of the last five Premier League campaigns.
Aguero's mind-blowing consistency 🤯
Here are Argentine's numbers throughout his consistently brilliant career via whoscored:
Agüero’s style & special status at City 🐐
Agüero cemented his status as a club great last season by becoming Manchester City's all-time leading goal-scorer out on his own at the top. He now has 231 goals in 338 appearances across all competitions for the Sky Blues.
Consistently brilliant numbers at the top level, despite all of his injuries, have become a landmark of Agüero's game. A reliable player with lethal, predatory instincts in front of goal is worth his weight in gold, especially if he also has a selfless side with a strong team ethic. Agüero is a complete striker who brings so much more to the party than just goals. "Kun", as he is affectionately known, scores and creates goals, causes havoc for opposing defenders and makes his teammates better.
The day that made Agüero a legend in the blue half of Manchester 😮
Who will ever forget THAT goal in 2012 as City snatched the title out of United's grasps?
It was Agüero who had the coolest head in the Etihad Stadium as Mario Balotelli's ball found its way through to him and he rifled home past the QPR goalkeeper to send City fans and players into raptures. It was pandemonium in the Etihad Stadium as City had dragged themselves back into a contest that they trailed 2-1 heading into injury time. A 3-2 win was enough to seal the title and deprive United of the spoils on goal difference on day 38 of a dramatic season.
It was undoubtedly one of the most dramatic moments in Premier League history, one for which he will be eternally remembered.
It's only ten days until the Premier League season kicks off and we can't wait to go through the thrills and spills all over again.
