Rashford, Greenwood shine as Manchester United beat Leeds 4-0

17 Jul 2019, 18:20

Manchester United put in an amazing attacking brand of football as they saw off Leeds United 4-0 in a friendly match in Perth, Australia.

Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, in particular, put in an enviable performance, and they both capped the day with a goal apiece.

Greenwood put United 1-0 up after just seven minutes from a Wan-Bissaka pass, with wantaway midfielder Paul Pogba also playing a key role.

Rashford, who had hit the bar before the opening goal then grabbed the second on 27 minutes, this time Scott McTominay assisting.

Phil Jones scored the third for United before Antony Martial converted the fourth from the spot.

United could have been 4-0 up by the time the sides went into the break, but Leeds keeper thwarted their attacks time and again.

The showing in Australia, especially from the attacking front will be a welcoming piece of news for Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who might lose the services of key striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian, who watched the match, is keen on joining inter Milan, and Solskjaer will be pleased by Greenwood and Rashford's performance.

The Norwegian indicated this week that he was willing to move away from the traditional 'big centre-forward', pointing in the direction of using the likes of Rashford and Martial for the coming season.

The new Premier League season will kick off on August 9th, with the Red Devils taking on Chelsea in the first match.
