Brazil midfielder Fred has been assured of his future at Manchester United by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this according to The Sun.
After struggling to get regular first-team football last season and then failing to make the Brazil squad for the Copa America, Fred first-team chances have been questioned by some quarters but it is understood that he has engaged manager Ole about the same.
The Sun's Old Trafford source said: “Ole has held a couple of telephone conversations with Fred over the last few weeks. Fred has been given a bit of extra time off this summer so he can celebrate his wedding in Brazil.”
Fred married earlier this week and shared a few snaps with wife Monique Salum, and then hopped on the plane to Australia to join up with the Manchester United squad for their pre-season tour Down Under.
Manchester United got their pre-season off to a good start with a 2-0 win over Perth Glory, with an impressive performance from new boy Daniel James. United have reportedly turned down a number of loan deals for Fred already this summer.
“He wants to repay the managers faith,” said the source. “There has been some interest but everyone fully thinks he'll come good.
“He's been doing some private fitness work to help him get stronger, keeping to the schedule he was handed.”
