Bale's agent shuts down talk of Tottenham return
Jonathan Barnett, Gareth Bale agent has shut down the idea that his client could go back to Tottenham this summer.
In an interview with Sportsmail, Barnett said nothing has changed for Bale after Marca had reported that his player was angling for a move back to White Hart Lane.
Bale who turns 30 today still wants to stay at Real Madrid where he has three years left on his contract despite the frosted relationship with head coach Zinedine Zidane.
The Wales international move away from Madrid is complicated due to the fact that no clubs are willing to pay his €17m-a-season net salary.
Despite Zinedine Zidane’s desire for Bale to be sold, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who spoke with the player on Monday at the club’s summer training base, is happy for him to stay.
Real Madrid still wants to sign a midfielder before the summer ends and need to sell before making a bid for Paul Pogba or buying Christian Eriksen from Tottenham or Donny van de Beek from Ajax.
But the club believes the sale of James Rodriguez rather than Bale's departure is more likely to kickstart that final signing.
Rodriguez will move this summer with Atletico Madrid emerging as a serious competitor to Napoli for his signature.
