Neymar is set for showdown talks with PSG after finally reporting for pre-season training on Monday.
The Brazilian finally arrived at the club’s Camp des Loges training ground at around 9:10 on Monday morning, a week later than expected.
RMC Sport claims that the 27-year-old will meet with compatriot Leonardo to discuss his future. The sporting director had previously indicated that the French Ligue 1 champions would be willing to allow Neymar to leave the club if they received a satisfactory financial offer.
Neymar caused controversy on the weekend when he suggested one of the best moments of his career was the Blaugrana’s famous 6-1 ‘remontada’ against PSG in 2017.
But, writing via his official Instagram page, Neymar's father denied claims his son intentionally meant to disrespect the PSG.
“My son has not been lacking respect to PSG or the athletes who played that game in 2017,” he said.
“Some of them [involved in that game] are currently his club mates in France. From the end of that game to today, he always remembers this match as one of the most important in his career.
“There are a few journalists and fans around the world who consider this as the most important game of the athlete at the club. So why the controversy this time?
“My son is an athlete of PSG, but he cannot just ignore his history, history that made him reach the French club.”
Barcelona has already recruited Antoine Griezmann this summer and a move for Neymar might prove to be a step too far on financial grounds.
Will Neymar, against the odds, be playing his football for PSG next season?
