After an outstanding season with Tusker Youth that saw him register double figures for goals and assists, Eric Zakayo was promoted to the senior team and is already looking to stamp his feet in the Kenyan Premier League.
Zakayo was one of the shining lights in Tusker Youth's season that saw them earn promotion from the Nairobi Regional League to the Division 2. The forward who can play as a striker or a right-sided midfielder bagged 10 goals and 10 assists as he aided the side to a second place finish.
His impeccable form did not go unnoticed as he was rewarded with a call up to the first team and resumed pre-season training with Tusker FC ahead of the 2019-2020 season. Born and bred in Kitui County, Zakayo joined Tusker in 2017 through a sports program by Mwingi West Member of Parliament, Charles Nguna.
The 18-year-old is relishing the opportunity to play top tier football, "I know it will not be easy having come from the Regional League but I'm confident that I can add something to the team and help them in the upcoming season, the team has a lot of good players especially up front and I'm looking forward to learning from them."
Finishing as the Tusker Youth topscorer last campaign, Ngava reflected on the season, "Last season was one of my best so far. I say this because I achieved some of the targets I had set before the season. Through hard-work and prayers, I emerged the top scorer and above all helped the team earn promotion."
Zakayo will face stiff competition from another youngster David Majak who bagged six goals last season.
