After winning all their group games, Kenyan giants Gor Mahia will have a date against Zambia’s Green Eagles in the quarter-final of the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup Tournament in Kigali on Wednesday.
Gor finished on top of Group D after registering a 1-0 win over a 10-man Kikosi Maalum Cha Kuzuia Magendo (KMKM) from Zanzibar on Sunday at Stade Umuganda in Rubavu District with Eric Ombija scoring the only goal of the game in the 87th minute.
AS Maniema Union of DR Congo finished second in Group D with six points following a 2-1 win over AS Ports of Djibouti; Kilangalanga Pame scored the opening goal in the 10th minute before Lutonadio Tegi doubled the lead in the 13th minute.
Gabriel Dadzie scored the consolation goal for AS Ports in the 71st minute. With the result, AS Maniema Union will face three-time champions APR FC in the quarter-final round.
With another Kenyan side in Bandari FC eliminated, the other quarter-finals matches will see Rwandan champions Rayon Sport playing Uganda’s KCCA, as Tanzania’s Azam entertain African bigwigs TP Mazembe.
The quarter-final round winners will face-off in the semi-final round which will be played on July 19 ahead of the final which will be played on July 21, 2019.
