REPORTS: Bayern Munich defender agrees terms with Borussia Dortmund

19 Jun 2019, 15:20

Bayern Munich defender has agreed to join Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund this as reported by The Kicker on Wednesday.

Hummels has reportedly been identified as the ideal player by Dortmund that can help them win major trophies next season with Bayern ready to allow the defender to leave as they look to add fresh blood into the team.

ready to sell Hummels despite his strong end to the last season. The Bundesliga champions are revamping their squad this summer by signing younger players.

This report also insists that both teams have not agreed on a fee for the defender as the 30-year-old centre-back reportedly going for €25 million is considered old by Dortmund though it is believed a deal will soon be struck between both parties.

Opportunity

The opportunity of getting more game time at Dortmund might have convinced Hummels to make this decision as he is set not to play regularly due to the arrivals of Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez. However, Bayern would have like to keep him for one more season as the club wants Jerome Boateng to leave this summer.

Hummels has enjoyed a decent amount of success with Bayern in the past three years though he couldn’t win the Champions League trophy with Die Roten but would be impressed by the league titles he won with the Bavarians.

Earlier this year Hummels lost his place in the Germany national team and a return to Dortmund might just get him back to the national team fold.
