Derby County have reportedly offered a contract to Chelsea defender Todd Kane ahead of the summer transfer window.
Kane's current deal is due to expire this summer, making him available on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old is said to have turned down a new contract at Stamford Bridge, where he is yet to make his official senior appearance.
According to The Times, Derby are one of several Championship clubs to have offered a deal to Kane.
However, the report adds that the player might been keen to stay at Chelsea after all if Rams boss Frank Lampard is appointed as the Premier League side's new manager.
Kane spent last season on loan at Hull City.
He made 41 appearances for the Tigers and scored three goals, including one against Derby at the KCOM Stadium in September.
He played the majority of his games at right-back - but can also operate across the midfield.
After his goalscoring display against the Rams - albeit in a 2-1 defeat - Chelsea legend Lampard was full of praise for Kane.
In response, Kane said: “I remember when I was younger and I used to watch him after training doing whatever – shooting and stuff like that. I have always taken stuff like that on board because I play in a few positions.
“He is one of my idols and any time I see him, we have a good conversation and he has always helped me throughout my career.
“He always wanted to help me and told me to keep on working hard and said that my work ethic and effort would get me a long way.”
Kane has previously had loan spells at Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, NEC Nijmegen, FC Groningen and Oxford United.
